My Story
Ali, our founder, is a Lead Literacy Champion with the National Literacy Trust. Ali is passionate about making books accessible and inspiring people of all ages to enjoy reading.
At Greener Derby, we love following up our activities with relevant book suggestions. This gives participants the opportunity to explore each subject further, continue learning and turn a shared activity into a lasting interest.
As part of that - throughout August 2026, we are hiding nearly 300 free books in parks and green spaces across Derby. This free book has been placed through a partnership between the National Literacy Trust and Greener Derby, helping more people discover the benefits of reading.
As part of the National Year of Reading 2026, we’re encouraging everyone to pick up a book, learn something new or explore a new interest. Whether you enjoy stories, sport, history, nature, hobbies or practical guides, there’s something for everyone
We’re doing this because books matter to us. We’re passionate about making reading accessible, encouraging curiosity and helping people discover new stories, learn about nature and ideas. Summer of Sport
This summer, the National Year of Reading is encouraging people to “Join Team Go All In” and discover great reads inspired by sport. Sporting stars and creators are helping inspire the nation to fall in love with reading.
